I am stressed out by the first month of first year PHD
Avatar for EV

try not to stress too much Aotema - there's another 3 years before peak stress so try to pace yourself - as a complete stress head myself I realise that this can be very difficult, But give yourself a break - it takes more than a month to get into the swing of things - and everybody has their weaknesses - it's great that you have already identified one of yours honestly it's a positive- just keep plodding along slowly and try not to stress yourself out too much

How do I write this in a table??
Avatar for EV

well it depends if it's E5 or E-5, I guess. So E5 would mean multiply your value by 100,000 and E-5 would mean divide by 100,000.

That's my understanding anyway :-)

is your value not 0.00008230??

Party didn't seem quite fitting - picture a bunch of nerdy types discussing a strategy game :p

Disasterous (sp?) day yesterday - left keys (bike, office, lab, house) in bfs bike bag (which he had at work) so couldn't leave the house at all - as a result got zero work done. Then bf had an unexpected gathering at our house last night which had me up until 2.30am - ended up sleeping in til 1pm!! So I'm only just in the office now and that means I'll have to work tomorrow aswell :-(
So goal 1; write to do list
Goal 2; tidy up review
Goal 3 ; extend review

right I think I need some chocolate first ....

Goals 1 & 3: done
Goal 4 is in progress - I'm confusing myself with conversion factors :-s but I'll get there - I'll give it another hour today anyway and then change to another task
I ran out out of time to get to the hosp so I'm going to be in big trouble next time

Not sure I'll get an answer to this one...

Any GC-MS users out there?

I'm a rookie trying to get to grips with the procedures involved and I'm following BS standards but they can be a bit sketchy on the details. I confused as to whether the concentration of the injection standard you add to your sample immediately prior to injection must be equal to the concentration of the injection standards added prior to the extraction of the sample. I'm assuming so but can't seem to find the literature to back up my assumption (ps. I haven't actually carried out any analyses yet)?

Well things aren't going so well so I'm going to make myself a bunch of small goals for the day in the hope that I'll get something constructive done.
Goal 1 - get dressed :$
Goal 2 - get to hosp
Goal 3 - eat a healthy lunch consisting of more than just a bar of chocolate
Goal 4 - finish writing lab methods

I'll post more after I hopefully get these done - hopefully by 5 so I can spend the evening finishing a piece of writing
