Quick question: Is it OK if I use the university in question's logo in my presentation?

Hi all, :)

I have a PhD studentship interview, as I've mentioned in previous threads.

I have two questions:

a) I have to do a 5 minute presentation, should I use a powerpoint presentation? I know I could do fine without it, but my friend said if I prepare one and use it, it shows that I have made an effort.

b) Has anyone used a powerpoint for a PhD interview/presentation? Is it possible you could kindly show me a copy of it, just so I know I'm on the right track. Would be much appreciated :)

Thanks. Yes I am definetly interested. I think I will take a copy of my transcript with me. I'm just suprised they haven't asked for it and have made a decision on interviewing without looking at it ...

I have an interview coming up soon for a fully funded PhD studentship, but I'm just slightly perplexed. I am a final year undergraduate student, and I filled their online form in, and an automated message asked me to email them my transcript. However, I got busy with university work and I totally forgot to do so. Two weeks later I received an email with them offering me an interview. Now they didn't have my references and neither a transcript, and they called me for an interview? I do have good grades etc but it just got me wondering and I thought maybe they already have a internal candidate in mind, and now they are just interviewing for the sake of it, and should I really waste my time preparing and go all the way up there (Its a couple of hours away) or am I just looking too deep into it? :) .. Also they advertised the same position in November too (I found an old advert online!) ... Strange.

Thank you so much for your response. The problem is I don't know much about the subject or the more importantly the proposal, so its hard to talk about what I think I would be doing? Maybe I should just ask them for more details before the interview?

Hi all,:-)

I have an interview for a PhD studentship at a university where I am required to present for 5 minutes why I want to do this particular PhD. The PhD title was advertised by the university and another organisation, and I applied to it. Now I don't have much info on how the PhD will be structured etc., because its not my own proposal. So what things should I cover in this 5 minutes?

Has anyone been to a PhD studentship interview? Could you kindly give me a brief of how it went and what areas you covered?
