Dear all,
I am preparing a journal paper. This is my first time sending a paper to an international journal. However I am not quite clear about the word limit. The guidelines says word count is 5000-7000. But my paper has only 3100 words. Should I just go ahead and submit it. Or try to add some more words here and there and make it atleast 5000 words? sorry if this sounds like a silly question. I just want to get submit it and move on with my research. Thanks.
Hey guys,
I hope you are all having a productive week and getting closer to the FINISH Line :)
LabPixie- I find supervisor meetings beneficial too. But at the moment my supervisor cannot help me much as the controller I am working on is beyond his area of specialization. Hope your chapters 4 and 5 are going well.
Wanderingbit- Hope you've been able to focus with guests at home. I find it difficult too at times. But for me having in laws around means some help with child care. :)
Caterpillar27 and BlackTrinity- Looks like you are making some good progress there. Good luck with with your writing.
I had a very slow and frustrating week. Once I started on the design of the main controller I realized few technical issues I had overlooked in my entire design. That got me thinking if my design is feasible experimentally at all. So for the past few days, I've been trying to fix the issue and understand my
system better. I know this shouldn't have happened. But I guess this is what happens when you try to skip "the learning curve" and rush through things. A lessen learnt.
Tonight I decide to lay down a plan that will help me to fix the issue, design my main controller and successfully implement it experimentally! And stick to it for the next 45 days.
I wish you all a productive and great week ahead.
Hello everyone,
I hope you are all having a productive week and getting closer to achieving your goals.
As for me, its been a very hectic week. But I am not complainig as I managed to solve a significant issue with my controller and now finally its working! (Yaay!) Although it is not the main controller for my system, just the benchmark model. But still feels great to have achieved something.
So, my goal for next week is to focus on designing the MAIN controller for the system.
Hope you all have a fabulous weekend and a productive week ahead.
Tanemahuta- Hope your Chapter is going well. Happy writing!
BlackTrinity- Way to go! Its seems you're close to the finish line. Good luck!
Caterplillar- Congratulations that your paper got accepted. That reminds me I'm supposed to be working on a paper too over the weekend. Supervisor sent me a last minute notice and I still haven't started yet.
Good luck everyone!
Liah xx
Hello everyone,
Just had a reality check: Only 10 weeks till deadline!
Supervisor is still not happy with my progress even though I think I've been a little more productive than normal this week. Ah well, I guess I will just have to ignore his negative comments and keep going. The stress is just enormous its giving me a bad headache.
So my main goal for the coming week will be to finish off the design of LQR controller and move onto the design of robust controller (which is my main area of research). If I get the controller design done in the next 3 weeks, that would be great. I can spend 7 weeks for my experiments.
Goodluck everyone on finishing up your thesis. Congratulations Tnemahuta on your forthcoming wedding!
Hi ImageAnalyst and Clupea,
Welcome to the thread. We are all on the same boat!
Right, so my goals today are:
1. Do some writing. (at least a paragraph or two)
2. Troubleshooting my simuation model. (It seems like I am spending ages on this. But I cannot move forward without an accurate simulation model. Sigh!)
Good luck everyone. I hope you all have a productive day!
Hi,
Sorry for the late post. It took me longer than expected to finish drafting chapter one and its still not complete. Planning to work on chapter two today and later after that, take some some time off research.
Good luck everyone. I hope your day goes as planned.
Right, so here are my goals for today:
1: Draft the first two chapters of my thesis.
2. Fix the problem that I am having with my Matlab Simulation. (Not sure if that is possible in a day. Hoping for some miracle)
3. Skype discussion with my co-sup.
Good luck everyone!
Hello everyone,
This is a new thread created to connect with those struggling to finish their thesis before the deadline. Hope we can motivate each other by posting our daily/weekly goals and updating on each other's progress. The idea was inspired by an original thread by Anthropologa. Hope you all will find this effective. :-)
Love
Liah
Dear Satchi and Evakimou,
Thank you so much for your advise. A part of me says I can still make it in 3 months. I really hope I do. At the same time I need to accept the bitter truth that it might go beyond 3 months and I will have no choice but to apply for an extension. Hope things work out for me, although I am writing this with my sick child lying next to me. It hard sometimes. Thanks for you kind advice.
