How to write a CV and covering letter for a Biological Science studentship application

Hello Everybody, I am new to this site. I have found some PhD studentships for Biological science type subjects that I would like to apply for but I have no idea of how to go about it. I have a good job CV but I assume this is going to be quite different. The deadline for my favorite one is one week away so I am a bit short on time to figure this out (panic). Can anyone offer me some advice?
