Waiting for examiners verdict (post viva)

D

Sounds like you gave the rewrite 100% so it's likely you've passed. You did (above and beyond) what was asked for, now it's out of your hands. The wait is excruciating, but if you've made it this far, what's another week-and-a-half? Maybe it's a good idea to keep yourself busy with some things you enjoy - especially things you haven't had time for over these last months.

P

Still no news. Torturous wait continues.

N

I really thought that I would see some fantastic news then when I saw that you had posted. :-(

Hang in there Pineapple, you so deserve this PhD. Thinking of you, Nx

I second this! Have been checking the forum on and off all day hoping there'll be some good news :-)

Hope they don't keep you waiting too long Pineapple

Thanks for your posts/concern! Nice to know there seems to be quite a few people following my story and interested in my results!

I'll create a new thread as soon as I hear anything. Hopefully title of new posts along the lines of 'Dr Pineapple' or 'Resubmission success' and not 'Resubmission Rejection' or 'Failed Resubmission'.

Trying to concentrate on postdoc job interview prep, but I'm just really really tired, drained, a bit tearful and just feel like sleeping.

Really should go out for a walk or something, maybe get some icecream or watch a scary movie if I don't hear anything before 5pm.

F

aw i hope you hear something soon- we all have fingers crossed for you :)

S

I too have been checking the thread. Good luck once again & look forward to hear good news soon!! Swetch

J

Either Pineapple is still waiting or she knows and is blind drunk somewhere celebrating. :p

I WISH I was out celebrating. Sadly, no news. I'm really starting to worry now :-(

I think results will come tomorrow or early next week....

I've got a few interviews next week, so I won't be able to check my emails as frequently next week.

I promise to let you all know as soon as I find out! ;-)

I know this is easy for me to say, but please try not to worry too much about what the delay means. I can guarantee it has absolutely nothing to do with what result they are going to give you, it will just be because of some admin reason or because someone was a bit slow returning some form or other.

We're all keeping our fingers crossed!!

Ok, update. Due to annual leave of key people involved with this whole process, I won't receive any news until next week. Which partly explains why I haven't heard anything. Devastated as this means waiting a little longer, but also means I can get on with other things.

Tempted to go down there myself and see if there are any big envelopes from my examiners of potential news waiting to be opened in the departmental office.

That is such a shame. I know how horribel it is to be awaitng this decision. It is a shame your internal could not have contacted you directly if they know what the outcome is, but every uni is different.

Enjoy the weekend and concentrate on your interviews!! :)

I am sure there will be a lot of people checking this next to await your up-date!!

M

Good luck Pineapple. Thinking of you. May I also take the opportunity to ask you a question? How much was the internal examiner involved in your corrections? Did he actually see the progress of them? At least unofficially? Mine does not even care...

No meetings or correspondence with the internal examiner whilst sorting through thesis corrections following viva. I don't think it was an issue about whether he cared or not, but more to do with the fact that my supervisors were required to check my progress during resubmission process rather than internal examiner. They both said I was allowed to contact them if I had any questions, so I suppose I could have contacted them, but was (and still am!) a bit scared to contact my examiners!

Internal examiner and the external examiner listed corrections for me to work through within the examiners report. Supervisors kept checking in with me to see my progress and whether I understood examiners points correctly.
