I really need to get a grip
B

Keenbean, the most wonderful person I ever worked with was bipolar. What it gives you is this amazing ability to get things done. So you can do this, in a limited time, because you have the cognitive ability to go for it.

What I'd advise is to lose the negativity. With bipolar, this is a huge burden you may carry on your back, and may give you a STOP (negative) message when you actually need a GO (carry on and do it) message. The GO is the true you. Believe it. So many of the AD/HD and bipolar people I see can't latch on to the affirmatives of the condition. They get side-tracked by the fearful 'what if'?s. Forget them. Your drive and determination and speed will see you through this.

People who know you and your work have no doubts about what you can do. You just have to respect that they know who you are, and that they believe in you. And, if push comes to shove, you believe in yourself, and your ability. Don't lose that belief.

Thanks for all the supportive posts!!!

I finally have some good news to report. My old boss rang me to tell me he has secured 3 months worth of funding in association with a biotech company for some part time work in the lab. He offered my first refusal. Its only 15 hours a week so can fit round my retail job and has the benefit of getting me back in the lab. Will its involved in working with a number of organisms and may make good contacts with the company. I am pleased as will not have too big a gap in cv and will find out about another grant in november. The work i do on this project may lead to more.

Great news!

I have also got 2 papers submitted this month in good journals. Maybe my luck is starting to turn. Sending positive vibes to all!!

I have also bought a lotto ticket for tonite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just want you to know that my PhD thesis, after 16 days' online presentation to the masses, is already in the month's top ten of all accessed research in my Uni, in all disciplines (and it's such a niche subject!). Don't want to advertise, so won't give the link in open forum.

But I am very happy. It was maybe worth the hassle and grind to discover that so many people from all over the world think it's very important!

I think, ultimately, that's what we're here for. We all want our voices to be heard, by our colleagues, our Universities, and the world.

All of us have done something exceptional. Sometimes, in the mess that is PhD research, we may forget that.

Eeeeek- dilemma! How would you feel about this?

If I were you, I'd put 2 as an Intro ahead of 1 Lit Review. That's the way it works conventionally.

Hey, mate! If you have a resubmission is that going to involve a new viva? That's the question you have ask. If not, it's the same as major corrections, and no big deal!

how much is too much context

I think you're going over wordage, and need to find where you can edit, usefully.

Here we go again - advice needed again

Oh wow! Thanks, mate! I'm female, 66, long-time (fairly successful) professional international author, journalist, and broadcaster, and just got my PhD!

I really appreciate what you said. And I'll give any amount of free advice here (I'm also a national agony aunt!)

I had a pretty weird PhD experience. Not really good. But I promise to be objective!
