Hi CloverCloud,
I am sorry to hear that you are feeling this way. But don't worry most of us have gone through this phase at some point or the other. I know that it is hard not to worry but this shall pass too! The PhD itself is so challenging which turns most of the people upside down as it did to me. Do not worry about venting, we are all here to support each other in this lonely process. As others have said, the key to solve your depression/anxiety is to find your research questions. You will feel much better if you have something to work on.
It is very strange that your supervisor says that you will have to figure it out yourself. I don't know if you are studying in the UK, if so have you had your Annual Progress Monitoring? You can mention your concerns to the people to whom you take your APR with. Can you otherwise get an additional supervisor?
It is good that you are taking care of yourself as it is very essential and try to do some outdoor activities, get some fresh air now and then which is always good. I hope everything will get better for you. All the very best (up).
Hi all, I finally managed to find why I had problems with referencing. I was using bibliography stile 'plain' instead of using 'unsrt' which will include the references in the order in which they are mentioned in the text.
It works fine after adding this line
\bibliographystyle{unsrt}
below any \usepackage statements but above \begin{document}.

Hi all, Hope everything is going on ok for everyone :-) I have managed to do quite a lot for work in the last two days. My simulations are working without much problems these days and I have been putting all the results together and writing up as well. Still a long way to go but things are streamlined now because of which I am feeling much better! The meeting with my supervisors went well, we discussed about two potential papers :-)
Cheers!
@ Sneaks, Batfink27 - Hi both, looks like both of you are bang on to give your presentations :-) Good luck and have fun there (up)
@ Skig - Absolutely, I can totally relate when you say that sometimes it is better not to take long breaks as one might feel like being in the middle of nowhere.
@ Naturalme - Well done! I'm glad to hear that all the hard work is being paid off :-) All the best for the rest (up)
@ Emmaki - Good luck with getting time to work on your thesis :-) I can imagine how hard it can be to manage both, you are doing great!
I have been extremely productive for the last two days and things are slowly falling in place. I am writing section by section and it is going on ok :-)
Hi all,
I thought this would be useful to all of us who are in the writing up phase!

Batfink27 - Well done and good luck with your presentation (up)
Naturalme -Cheers! I enjoyed having dinner with couple of my friends and the girly talk :p I know the feeling of putting in more stuff which is really hard to get out of. Did you manage to email it to your supervisor?
Sneaks - Additional work doesn't sound nice at this stage but just get on with it and you will be done soon!
Skig - Break day sounds great :-) I hope you had a good rest. I wish I can take a whole week off and go to somewhere warm!!! 8-)
Tonight's goal: Prepare input files and submit 6 simulations. Go home and sleep well :p
Hi all, I had put together all the results, taken print outs this morning. I had a meeting with my supervisors for two hours. They are happy with my results. I am going to work for a couple of hours now and go to my friend's place later in the evening for dinner :-)

That's good Skig! Unfortunately my day wasn't as productive as I planned :( Tea with mates was very nice, thanks. I needed that break badly. I am still putting the results together. I hope I will be able to complete it in a while.
Good luck with your discussion part and the rest (up)
