How many 22 year olds have youcome accross in their first year?

Can't it look like more knowledge and experience specially if they are similar e.g.. research masters and taught masters?

I mean for ESRC/AHRC etc don't you need an offer of a place?

There tends to be in all departments more students then funded places a year.

Is the applications fo funding and application for a PhD place treated separately when writing your own proposal? If so how does it work?

If they have how likely is it that you will obtain a place. I knwo people doing MAs in different fields due to wanting to do a PhD in a different field but don't you need a diploma instead?

Right people will tend to get funding for 3 years and then self-fund year 4. Can this be done in reverse?

Are you an international student - what subject do you do - do you get a laptop from your department now and an office who wouild pay for conferences?

Yeah so i can get that in my second year for 3 years even if i'm registered on a programme. In addition, could I do 1 year of a phd and then apply for department funding for the other years?

I'm a UK student in the UK.
