You shouldn't feel guilty, your feelings are simply human!

There are some blessed people who have supportive supervisors throughout, but most of us go through the same problems at some point.

I used to send the draft of the report to my supervisor, but I never had feedback on them. Equally, I used to send monthly reports on what I was up to, and never got a reply. Retrospectively I can say: "No news, good news", but back then, I was terribly annoyed, hurt, and frustrated.

Nonetheless I got to the end, I got my doctorate, and if I could get to the end, so can you. Believe me.

It's certainly not an experience for faint-hearted. It requires a good dose of determination, perseverance and ability to navigate through rough seas.

You slowly learn to cope with the uncertainties that this kind of work poses, by yourself, and it is incredibly rewarding.

Be confident: You know your own topic. Write your report and e-mail it to both your supervisors "just to let them know" - do so a few days before the deadline - and see what response arrives from them.

Then go the interview with confidence - if there is anything wrong I am sure that your sup will get back in touch with you before then. So go there and knock them all out!

Thank you Delta and Kikuka!

It feels really strange. I don't know what I will do to celebrate yet. Certainly a nice meal with my family on graduation day, then will shall see. I am penniless at the moment!  :$

Hello Ady,

As I explained in another thread I have been away for a couple of weeks, and once back I discovered that I couldn't log in with my old details. so here I am with a slightly different username.

I am sorry that you had a stressful time, but believe me, however you get to the end, it is always stressful. Perhaps your supervisor was fussy because he wanted to give you the best possible chance to pass without corrections, or perhaps he was just disorganized and didn't manage to read it properly in the past weeks.

I think that in the end, it's only you who know if your thesis is ready for submission or not, and you seem pretty sure to me. So just go ahead with confidence!
At the end I couldn't have face the prospect of another extra day working on it, and I am so glad that it is over now!

Good luck with yours (up)

Congratulations Kikuka! I have been away for a couple of weeks, so I missed your good news.

I just received the official letter too. Also my corrections have been signed off, so I suppose that this is the end of the race.

I just wanted to clarify that I am the usual corinne, but for whatever reason I couldn't log in with the old details and had to re-register with a different username, so I thought I would choose one that reflected the recent achievement - although it means that I lost my 2 stars!!!
