We should point out he's not actually in the Fish Tank, he lives just outside it.
A limited number of places are available on the Midlands GRADschool in May. These courses are free if you are funded by the UK Research Councils or The Wellcome Trust.
GRADschools offer postgraduate researchers the opportunity to take a few days out of research studies to gain new perspectives on research and career options. If you are looking to develop your skills and share experiences with other PhD students then these courses are for you.
For more information and to apply visit www.grad.ac.uk/pgapply
Bursaries available for members of the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Society for General Microbiology.
A little test for What2DoNext
Hi - can you tell us what browser you are using please? Can you see one smiley above in What2DoNext's message?
These are your options. More to come shortly (requests welcome).
As promised, we've introduced smileys to message replies. Simply use the shortcut keys to jazz up your messages! Next week: flashing lights!
How's that? You can now add them to messages, see the "Post Reply" page for the shortcuts.
We are looking at introducing a chat room or a personal messaging system (or both), so you can flirt with each other behind closed doors!
This won't be relevant to most of you, but if anybody here is already giving lectures then this may be interest:
The Times Higher Education Supplement will be doing a feature in September/October talking to lecturers who have just started lecturing this academic year, ie 2005/6, and asking them either to talk or write about their experiences.
THES would like to get a good spread of subject areas and types of lecturing - eg casual, part-time, full-time.
If anyone can help, please contact Mandy Garner, Features editor, THES

Many thanks to Claire, who sent this one in. We're not 100% sure if it's a hoax or not... I mean a 3cm miniature human diver - definitely possible, but a submarine - that's just silly.
Today sees the happy arrival of our baby guppies. We've moved the camera to point at the nursery - you'll still be lucky to spot one though.

Thanks to Sue who interrupted her writing up to send us half a dozen snaps of our Molly's and a few fleeting glimpses of guppy.

Sorry about that - the fish don't like being watched whilst their water's being changed. It's back now.
Thanks for spotting this - we changed the message counting routines on Friday - never a good day to make changes - it's fixed now.
