That "professional" thesis editor banner which pops up at the top of the website now and again has lots of grammatical errors. I would think twice before using that service.

You would think that if they were offering a service of this sort they would have made sure that the text used on their banner was more eloquent.

I saw that it said 'get it write' - but wasn't sure if that was supposed to be there??? as a joke?

confused.

Maybe the "get it write" part was meant to be a play on words, however, "Suport"??. Also, "Congratulations, you're thesis almost done"....... So, judging by the other grammatical errors, the "get it write" part may not have been a play on words and just a mistake.

yep, I think you're write ;-) bennyhill.

would any of you use the service? or steer clear because of the errors??

There is no way I would use that 'service'!

I'd rather my mum went through it and phoned me up every 2 mins with "what's a variable?" and "why do you call them participants, why not call them people" type questions.

So the irony is that the professional editors grammar is actually good, but he/she thought to her/him self that if he/she used the pretense that it wasn’t then people would be more interested in using this service? Interesting...

Or is it that the spelling mistakes and grammatical errors in the banner are referring to errors that could be present in the thesis text?

Hmm, very confusing lol

Maybe I'm just stupid

haha, if we are going to be picky, four dots (....) means nothing at all. An ellipsis must be three dots :p

Its weird isn't it... I'm really not sure, but maybe the click hear, that turns into click here is suggesting that they are errors a student might make - I don't know! The trouble is its soooo bad that it makes you wonder - heck, I'm confused now!

I have a great advert shield and never ever even notice them until someone mentions it. Had to search the screen to see what this is about.

Think the errors are meant to be there, as in errors you might make in the thesis or something. I guess it's kinda of worked as it's made people notice the ad when if it was all correct no one would be posting about it!

Ha ha, ye, I think they may have gone a little bit overboard with the irony, that's if the very obvious mistakes are meant to be ironic.

I think the point is that there are errors that might slip through proof reading (I cringe when I look at my BA, MA and MSc dissertations and spot the typos) and on that note here is a poem:

I have a spell chequer it came with my pea see
It plainly marks four my revue miss steaks eye cannot sea.
Each thyme when eye have struck the quays I weight four it to say
If watt I rote is wrong or rite it shows me strait a weigh.

As soon as a mist ache is maid it nose bee fore two late
And eye can put the error write yes, I shall find it grate.
I’ve run this poem threw it I’m sure yore pleased to no.
Its letter perfect in its weigh my chequer tolled me sew.
