Watching TV in the UK

P

Is it true that you have to pay to get television reception in the UK? Are there any free-to-air channels, if so how many? How much does it cost?

J

You have to buy a license to watch TV; don't know why these days, cos the license money is paid to the BBC which accounts for a fraction of all TV channels. You can also pay extra for Sky or cable TV. I'm the last person in Europe to just have the basic 5 channels

D

No your not Juno, I only have five chanels, not that I ever watch any of them!

S

My TV is in storage 200 miles from here (and where it will stay for the next 3 years). Life's so much more fun without TV!

F

Ya! Another person without tv. I didn't watch it when I had one, so couldn't justify the cost of the licence.

H

I have to admit, I could easily live without a tv as I much prefer reading however the OH is addicted. Hence we have sky+ (which I pay for may I add). I love the food channel though, I would miss it.
