How is funding given? i.e is it given every month or in one go?

And does the funding body pay your fees if it is sponsoring a program or does that come out of your grant? also does the lab pay for the lab fees?chemicals etc?

Generally if you are a UK student receiving a full UK research council studentship then your fees (tuition & lab) will be paid. This money does not come out of your maintenance grant. Depending on your funding body you will probably be paid either once every three months or monthly.
