Lets talk about funding!

Hi

I've been offered some funding to do a masters at my uni but have applied to another place that I'd rather go (the unis are of about the same standard). I have a place at this second uni but no funding yet - however I know that they offer funding later.

The deadline for responding to the offer of funding that I have is very soon and I probably won't hear back (re funding) from the second uni before the deadline.

If I accept the funding from my uni, how big a problem would it be to turn it down if I were to get funding from the other uni?

Thanks!!

I just got my funding from government, but frankly, it's kind of extreme stress, because government keep chasing for results, reports, progress reports....etc...and must passed, cannot failed, dropout, hanky panky...anyway, I thank Jesus God for His blessing for funding...when I has nobody to depends on, Jesus is the one that helped me...all glory and honor to God, may God bless my country, my government!

Hi all,
I'm an international student, and I got accepted into Edinburgh Uni, and I've applied for the university's own partial scholarships. These, however, don't cover the total cost of the programme (Research Masters), and as an international student there are quite some limitations as to funding opportunities.
I was wondering if any of you guys knew of any kind of source for funding at tbis level.
The degree is for Science, Technology and Innovation.
Thanks.

Hi all!

I'm new to the forum and I'm looking for a PhD. I found one at the university of Birmingham which says it is EPSRC-funded and at the university website is indicated as "Competition Funding". What does it mean? Also, how much is approximatelly the wage for a funded phd student? Thank you!

This means that you have to compete with the other projects, so even if you get accepted on to the PhD there is no guarantee it will be funded. Stipend is around 14k a year; non-taxable.
