LSE admission please help!!

Y

Hi guys!

I was wondering if you could help me with some info. I am Ukrainian, have recently graduated with a 2.1 ( 66.5%) from a UK university ( not top, but regarded as good) and have been studying on the Legal Practice Course ( Postgraduate diploma in law). I am fluent in several languages and have been doing some volunteer work.

After my LPC course I want to apply for the MSc European Political Economy at LSE.

If not too much trouble, could you please tell me how difficult it is to get in? What are they looking for? I know it is a very general question, but it would be wonderful to know if you think I have a chance. Maybe somebody had some experience in applying to a similar course......

Thank you in advance for your answer:)

Take care:)

Hi again

I guess I did not formulate my question very well. Sorry What I really want to ask is this. In your experience, is it possible to get an offer from a top uni such as LSE if you graduated from a not very reputable university? If so, what esle would they look for?

Any suggestions would be much much appreciated

Thanks:)

Hi YM

You sound very well qualified for postgraduate study. However, it will be very difficult to gain admission to an institution as highly regarded as LSE.

By all means apply for the Masters at LSE, but it might be a good idea to have a look at similar courses at other slightly less prestigious universities so you can fall back on these if your application to LSE is unsuccessful.

I did my undergraduate degree at a university which is towards the bottom of the university league tables and did my Masters at a top 20 university so it is possible to do postgraduate study at a more presigious institution. You'll never know if you don't apply!

Thank you so much for your reply

I will certainly follow your advice, XJR. Well done on completing your masters:)!

It is very difficult to get into the LSE so I second making other applications as well to less prestigious institutions. I know someone who applied for less popular courses in the same department in the hope that he could transfer onto that course (as it turns out he loved the original course so he stayed on that!)

My undergraduate university was position fifty. My MA (now doing PhD at the same uni) was at a uni now 15th. It is possbile to climb, but it does help if you were in a good department in your 'low ranked' (these rankings can be soooo subjective) university. So yeah, go for it and good luck!

Thank you guys for your advice! I really appreciate it
