Personally I always write a plan when I'm trying to talk about a specific section of the literature, which is usually...

1) why am I looking at the literature
2) what does this literature say (descriptive) - but also critically evaluating any singular studies e.g. "although this study was carried out on people who wear pointy hats, so will not generalise to people wearing top hats"
3) criticise the literature - what are the key gaps in general that haven't been covered.

My main tip for writing more analytically is always to think "so what". Both my supervisors hammered this in to me. It's not enough to say what something says (description), but you need to say why it's important to the reader (moving to more analytical).

My sup has had similar comments. Make sure you spell out what you want to say. What are you going to do, and why are you doing it. And just say it as simple as that: I am going to do X which is important because it leads to Y and Y is the main framework for this chapter.
