Hi everyone,
I have a quick question. How often should one write his/her supervisor a reminder for feedback? Should it be every two weeks or four weeks? I have accepted my fate, in that I have to remind my supervisor to respond to my drafts, at the same time, I don't want to appear like a pain.
Thanks in advance.
Many congratulations Dr Faded. Well deserved victory.
Like some commenters have noted, put it behind you.
There is no way of judging whether or not an interview went well except for when you are not offered the job.
I went for an interview two weeks ago, which I believed went well, only to receive an email a few days later to say I did not get it.
Goodluck in your search.
Done.
Hi MaxS,
I changed from full time to part time in my second year but continued to work on my research on a full-time basis. I was told that My first-year full-time is equal to a 2nd year part-time and that I can submit my thesis by the end of the fourth year if I have completed.
I don't know which institution you will be enrolling with, but at mine (based on personal experience), I can tell you that a part-time student is expected to pay 4 years part-time fees minimum.
I hope this helps?
I have to add however that your ability to work on a full-time basis is completely dependent on your supervisor's willingness to treat you as such. So you have to make sure you have spoken to them about it, and that they are on the same page with you.
Good luck.
Like most of the others have noted, I'd say go for it. My PhD is in a relatively new area. At first, I thought this was going to be a challenge, but my supervisor reckons that it is a blessing in disguise, as my findings will seek to explain why the area has not been researched should.
Good luck.
My supervisor was supportive during my first year, but most of the support was more about passing relevant texts or journals my way.
I am currently in my third year, and while the support comes in the form of providing critical feedback, he has been extremely slow in providing the feedback.
So I guess my point is, enjoy the support while it is there.
I guess it varies. I am in the social sciences and it took my supervisor 6 months to return the first chapter of a full thesis draft.
He decided it was best we reviewed it chapter by chapter, but it did take him 6 months to make that decision I guess.
