Zutterfly, really pleased to hear you are making excellent progress, well done! :)
I believe that's a good strategy to leave cutting up to the end. I partly dread that part of cutting out words. I always thought I'd have too less to say.
I've got to tackle the conclusion too after the literature review chapter, I think that's going to be a difficult task. I should worry about it when I get there ;)
How long are your literature reviews? I think mine will be about 15K.
I've also got a question about how to be critical when writing the literature review, would appreciate your response!
Hi,
I understand that when reporting results from a study for example, one can be critical of the methodology used for example, or the claims made.
However, if I am reporting on say a given policy on an issue or a government initiative, how do I be critical? I have mentioned 'however critics argue X..' But not much reference to the strength of the argument.
I suppose I'm trying to ascertain how much criticality the literature review needs? I think what I've written currently is on par with a literature review in a journal paper, but I'm not sure that is sufficient for a literature review in the thesis?
Any advice much appreciated! :)
Interesting question. I don't think it's a problem exploring other questions in addition to the one you originally wanted answered.
You could change your research questions when writing up or explain that the research question evolved from the data. I don't think either way it should be a problem.
