Morning folks

Just arrived at my desk after a hectic start to the day. I've only got a few hours of desk time as well before I need to be off again, so efficiency is the name of the game today!

Goal 1. Finish draft email and send
Goal 2. Read papers for meeting later today
Goal 3. Make photocopies of stuff (my favourite task today :p)

Well, turns out there is a downside to sitting in a lovely warm and sunny living room post-humongous lunch *rubs eyes sleepily* :$

Coffee is brewed as I'm attempting to get back on task...

So I've dealt with goal 5, the run and the humongous lunch. Not got round to drafting that email yet as per goal 6, but I'll move that down the list in favour of getting comfy in my sunny living room with some reading - gotta take advantage of the sun being out for once! So:

Goal 6. Read the remaining chapters of the library book which is due back tomorrow.

Right that's goals 1 - 4 ticked off my list. Muchos pleased! And that's even with a little internet procrastination thrown in!

Sorry to hear about your bad tummy Sneaks! I'm not good with milk either so I'm trying to stick to soya and oat milk and it makes all the difference. Might be worth giving a shot for a couple of weeks? And I hear ya when it comes to the feet issue too... I put a little sheepskin rug under my desk this morning as my tootsies, even in slippers, were way too cold to let me get comfortable. And voila - 4 goals later! :p

Now then, a couple more tasks then I'm allowing myself a quick run and a humongous lunch:

Goal 5: update field diary
Goal 6: draft email

Morning y'all!

Already 9.45am and I'm the first one to post here? Where is everyone today? I'm back using this thread today as I have a rare full day at my desk so want to make the most of it! Now then, where to start with my long list of tasks...

Goal 1. Write thank you card
Goal 2. Write meeting agenda
Goal 3. Complete interview transcription.

That should take me nicely to lunchtime me thinks.

I would go with U.K.: seeing as both U. and K. are abbreviations. So it wouldn't make sense to signify this with a dot for one but not the other.

How to answer "tell me about yourself" in interview?

I came across this on youtube just the other day, good timing! 8-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qR-IhZJOq3U&feature=related

There's loads of clips like this if you search under 'interview tips' or similar, also showing you examples of bad approaches, plus all sorts of other awkward interview questions you may be asked.

Good luck!

Dusted goals 1, 2 and 3 and had lunch to boot! It's going suspiciously well today, although admittedly it's all fairly admin-y stuff I'm doing so not exactly taxing on the old brain! Now onto goal 4 and something I've been meaning to do for the last few months :$ : make a list of what I consider are my core texts for easier future reference.

Afternoon all! After running some Uni related errands this morning I've returned to my desk. Goal 1: type up notes I took in writing last night. Goal 2: write up reflexive notes on this morning's events.

Sneaks - Downton Abbey. Matthew Crawley. What can I say. :-x

DONE! This turned into a reasonably productive day in the end! Hurrah! No more Little Miss Procrastinator I say! Expect to see more of me on here as I finally get my finger out. Night night!

Okaaaaaayyy!! We're rockin' and rollin' here! Goal 2 ticked off and washing up done into the bargain! (up)(up) Now off to cook and enjoy some dinner and last night's episode of 'Downton Abbey' on Replay, then onto my last goal for the day - read the first 2 chapters of my Uni library book.

I'm delighted to report that this is working for me already! (up) Goal 1 ticked off. Now off to make a cuppa, then onto goal 2: write up a checklist for my upcoming interviews.

Right folks, I think I'll start joining you with the 'one goal' thingy as I'm turning into the Procrastination Queen and am really annoying myself in the process. I mean, it's nearly 4pm and I'm STILL faffing! :$ I must must must stop this nonsense, so maybe some accountability will help.

Therefore, goal 1: edit draft journal article and forward to sup.

Hey Sneaks

Going back to your original question here - I've just come across this article about presenting qualitative data. Thought it might be of interest and provide some answers!

Glad you liked the suggestion RLD1984 :-) but yes, the travel thing is a bit of a bugger. I guess you don't HAVE to use any of your original lot though. Is there scope for bringing a group of representative people together within the town you're in, or certainly closer to home, instead? You only need about 6-8 people max anyway to make it a manageable focus group so maybe that would work. Or could you approach one or two of the social firms that you didn't draw previous participants from (you said you covered 13 of the possible 18 firms), and see if you can pull together a focus group of relevant people within that firm? That way the participants all in one place and you come and see them, which should cut down the travel expenses.

I like Ady's idea with the phone interviews too, and if all else fails Rick's - if in doubt, just acknowledge it as a limitation and all is ok :p
