I have been cutting and pasting chapters and sections as i need some portrait and some landscape pages and now I can't get continual page numbers through the whole document. Each section starts again at one. I am at the end of my tether now an may just give up. so near yet so far. i don't believe this is happening.
reprieve from the gallows! As my electronic submission window closes at 23.59 tonight, I have wangled with the office to take my bound copies in tomorrow morning. It doesn't mean I will slack as I am supposed to be out tonight celebrating. The extra time will just help me tidy it up and bit and get the printing done this afternoon. Hurrah.
Panic mode for real now. Still ploughing away at this damned thesis when all I want to do is be rid of it. It will be an all nighter definitely. I hope I can get there. There isn't anything I can leave out without it being noticed and my conclusion will be crap.
Submitting tomorrow! Too much still to do and have no idea how I will manage it. I didn't sleep well as had a headache and still have it. I'm now working backwards from 5pm as the latest to hand in, 3 hours for binding (will phone the library to double double check that there are no problems with doing this as they promise), so I will still have tomorrow morning to tie up loose ends. Can people give me some indication of how long it took to print their thesis? Thanks.
Hi Bella, if you search the forum there has been quite a lot of discussion of this over the years. I've been on the forum since 2007 when I had a nightmare of a time trying to get a mortgage. We did eventually as Coventry took into account my stipend, but I had three years of funding in front of me and also had a part-time job. I think the financial situation generally has got much worse, and even people with 'proper' jobs are finding it hard to get mortgages. Maybe there is someone who has more up-to-date information can help as well.
Is the house you rent on the market now or is there a chance you could wait until you have got a job?
It may be doable but I would be prepared for a lot of setbacks. I'd suggest seeing an independent financial advisor to get some idea.
Sorry not to be positive but I think it will be difficult for you. Good luck though.
I think I have hit the wall! Today I have not been motivated, I wrote a couple of pages of a new introduction to my last chapter but then went for a nap and have done nothing else all day. It's very warm here which is not conducive to study. I've asked my boyfriend if he wants to go out for a pizza as I think if I get away from the Phd for a bit I might feel refreshed and ready to continue. I've still got 5 days to go, and I've had great feedback from my supervisor today - she thinks it's all coming together nicely and the chapter she read is clear, well though out and argued.
I need to give that final final push - it will all be over in five days.
