Anyone else submitting this summer???
R

My deadline is also vaguely stated as summer, due to my sups' summer recess - long story cut short - they want it in summer... Anyway, I feel like that threatened animal in your studies, furry. But I am trying my hardest, sleepless, endless lists, etc. So, can I join you please? May I propose to touch bases with each other err.. on a weekly basis, or so re: our progress?

Access to journal

Sorry to bother you, guys, with the same request again, but does anyone have access to the following journal: Central Asian Survey? I really need to access articles in the whole issue 3, from Volume 24, 2005. Many thanks in advance to anyone who can help. Best, Rina

Hi, guys,

Sorry to bother you, but does anyone have access to these two articles:

1. Duvdevany I, Vudinsky H. (2005). Out-of-home placement of children with intellectual disability: Israeli-born parents vs. new immigrants from the ex-USSR. International Journal of Rehabilitation Research 28(4):321-30.

2. Duvdevany I, Rimmerman A. (1998). Out-of-home placement of children with severe intellectual disabilities in Israel: Research and implications. International Journal of Rehabilitation Research 21(4):393-396.

Thank you very much!

Yours,
Rina :)

Trustworthiness in cross-cultural qualitative research
R

Thank you so much, Bewildered! This seems to be the one I was looking for. Really appreciate it. They don't have this book in our library, but I have looked up this and also another one by this author in google. (up) Please let me know if you recall any other readings. With thanks and stars, (gift) Rina

Trustworthiness in cross-cultural qualitative research
R

Dear all,
I am wondering if anyone could suggest a good textbook reading that discusses ways to ensure trustworthiness in cross-cultural qualitative research (issues of data translation, interpretation and audit trail).
Many thanks,
Rina

Greetings and need help with finding the articles
R

Hello dear forumland!

I am back after a while absence - was doing data collection and trying to write up in the 'cave'. Hope everyone is surviving. Have a lot to catch up with here - to start can please anyone help me to find these articles:

Caregiving Mothers of Children with Impairments: Coping and Support in Russia
Kaplan, Rachel. Disability & Society 25. 6 (Oct 2010): 715-729.

Parent advocacy in the face of adversity: Autism and families in the People's Republic of China.
Mc Cabe Helen. Focus on Autism and Other Developmental Disabilities. v. 22. no. 1. 2007-04-01. p. 39 -?

Mucho gracias,

punctuation question

Thanks, Ady, but I am not after stars here, that was exactly my point, but thanks anyway. To sum up: both punctuation options are acceptable. Good luck with your work.

punctuation question

Quote From ady:

Quote From Pootle:

According to Fowler & Fowler (authors of "The King's English" and honorary patron saints of English grammar) either is acceptable, although the first option is more accurate. Good choice! ;-)

Now that's what I call a helpful user :-)

Awww, Ady, you've finalised this punctuation debate like an Oscar ceremony
:-x  but I understand your decision. For me and the likes, who did not receive stars and who are following our sups suggestion and yet facing the final stressful stages, the big question of priority of a citation over a  period still remains open.
:-)

punctuation question

Hi Ady, not sure if it helps, but here is the argument in favour of the 2nd option (pp.91-92): http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=PN_8vUWwXp0C&printsec=frontcover&dq=legal+writing+in+plain+english&hl=en&ei=sbM6TpbiKoPC8QPciPHsAg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&redir_esc=y#v=onepage&q=91&f=false In case it does not open on those pages:), it says:" Bring the sentence to an end and put the citation after."

Hi Kieranhood, hence having a sleepless night, just emailed you the paper.

The One Goal Thread
R

Hi guys,

May I please join the club? Tomatoes no longer work for me, 730 words for the whole day and not even half way near what I need to say. Cuppa coffee, heating is on, wind outside is near to the storm, but otherwise peaceful and quiet, no distractions. Why I am so slow? If I bumped into the wrong thread, please let me know.

Switching to potatoes and dreading the week ahead,
Rina

Sorry guys, to bother you, but does anyone have access to this journal: International Journal of Rehabilitation Research? I need two articles from this publication, if at least one is accessible, that would be brilliant. Thank you!

1. Duvdevany I, Keren N. Thought, consideration and future planning for out-of-home placement among parental caregivers of dependent adult children with psychiatric disabilities. Int J Rehabil Res. 2002. Sep,25(3):207-13.

2. Raif R, Rimmerman A. Parental attitudes to out-of-home placement of young children with developmental disabilities. Int J Rehabil Res. 1993 Jun,16(2):97-105.

Situation in Greece
R

Hard and sad times for Greece. I don't like talk politics, but what is happening, as you as you say, you have to share, because it's like right in your face, no escape. It is sad even to watch and hear about it on the news from abroad, how the whole country is going down the drain with a roller coaster speed, and all these politicians and money people are just observing this turmoil and not helping much. I can't imagine what it takes for common people to live through this. Keep the hope for your country though, like Phoenix it will come back to life, but it will be a different Greece though.
