It sounds like you are well on track to submit prior to October if you have a draft ready. I am aiming to submit in a few months and do not quite have a few chapters to do before having a draft

Major Revisions - 6 weeks and not heard back
S

Hi all,

I'm a little anxious I've not heard back from a paper I submitted that had major revisions. Do you think this is a bad sign? Should I chase them up?

How long to hear from major revisions?
S

Hello everyone - I have yet another question about the review process. What are people's experiences in terms of waiting to hear back after submitting major revisions? Thanks :)

Confused when resubmitting a revised article - help appreciated :)
S

Hello everyone,

I am hoping to resubmit a revised article today. I have made revisions, responded to reviewer feedback etc. When submitting the article at first there is a box to respond to reviewer comments - in this I have:

- An introduction to the editor saying thanks for the helpful comments etc and that the article has been significantly improved etc.
- Systematically gone through comments made by the author and my response.

But then there is also another section to write a cover letter to the journal editor - can I just replicate the first part of my response to the reviewers which says thanks for the feedback, we have revised etc?

Thanks for your help! I get really uncertain on simple things some times!

Where to search for Academic Positions in America?
S

Hello everyone - any help would be great! Does anyone know of any good sites for looking for post-docs, assistant lecturer positions in the States? I haven't come across any? (also if you know any for Canada, Australia, New Zealand that would also be great!)
Thanks!!

Dealing with younger colleagues (MPhil/PhD)

I wouldn't be sociable with them but leave them alone generally there is not point trying to force friendship on people. In the mean time, join some lunch time seminars or reading groups etc and meet people that way

Supervisor presenting my paper at conference? - Help
S

If he/she is your supervisor then in my opinion it is his paper to. Anything I produce I consider my supervisors as co-authors whether they were involved directly or indirectly. Just my opinion though others will disagree with me. Remember it is in your supervisors best interests to see you do well so trust thier judgements and that they aren't out for themselves only

PhD Funding

Email your potential supervisors - they are best placed to advise. Personally, I would not do a PhD unless it was funded...

Please Help! What does "Awaiting Reviewer Assignment" Actually Mean in Biology Journal
S

Hi everyone, I submitted a paper to a biology journal but it uses scholarone which i think is very common. It now says "Awaiting Reviewer Assignment" (initially it said awaiting editorial office processing or something) - does this mean it is going out for review? Please help :)
