A guy in our research group published 60 journal papers during the Ph.d, most are published in Physical review, JMMM, APL. In less than one year after he graduated, he published a review article in progress in materials science whose impact factor is more than 10. He is now only 30 years old. but he cannot get the funding in UK because he is from overseas. He will go to America to work in the university there.
dont so mean,rjb203. Anybody can take a holiday, including phders. But always work comes first. If one can make sure that his work cannot be at the least influenced by a vacation, no harm to take a vacation. But if you cannot make sure about that, delay your holiday plan after you get your degree.
sorry for my ill-defined english sentence. i am currently suffering from writing up papers in english. I mean before you fixed a better choice, dont make any jerky decision. To be honest, i think each subject is the same. when you work into it, you will find the interests. if you always see your subject as a layman, you can never love it.
