Hmmmmm not sure that I like it - I'm sure we'll get used to it, but hey, this is a stressful time for us all - change of our forum layout maybe the straw that breaks the camel's back in some cases!!! I don't like orange :-(, the lilac is quite pretty and soothing, but orange??? Its like BAMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hmmmmmm........ Oh well, I guess so long as we can all stay together and they don't go offline again at important times it'll be ok 8-)
We had a theory last year that the letters are sent out to be delivered randomly by monkeys - there seems to be no other reason. Although mine was a bit creased last year, looking at it again (yes, I'm that sad, I kept it!) it does look suspiciously like its been flying around an office somewhere
Yep, same here, its the dull, depressed acceptance of the inevitable - all the energy has gone (might be something to do with having written 20K words in the last week) and I'm feeling like a condemned woman sitting in a cell waiting to be called - nice...
you seem to be right pamplemousse - the only thing is that there seems to be a 5 day rule so possibly those generated on Fri should arrive today, but then there seems to be nothing.
It is all getting very depressing in an anxious sort of way - today I just feel so flat and tired of it all. I think it totally wears you out
mellyd, there is no rhyme or reason to the order in which letters are sent out. People hear right through to Sept - hopefully this year it will be quicker, but who knows. Don't worry about it from that angle, it may simply be that your particular area of Panel 2 hasn't been sent out yet.
Lol GoingNuts! Yes, practice that expression, spoil their fun!
I live in a little village and our postman is your classic 50s postman who knows everyone and what they're doing. He knows what I'm waiting for cos hubby told him () I'm half expecting him, when he sees a letter emblazoned with the ARHC logo to knock on the door and hand it to me then stand their expectantly waiting for me to open it - dream on... I'm not sure he'd be prepared for me to drop to the floor howling and tearing at my clothes
Congrats Mr Hyde!!!!!!!!!! Really really pleased for you! Yes, the 5 day rule is working nicely isn't it.
Lol, yes, I remember the good old days when I didn't nearly collapse in a jibbering mass every time I saw a postman - they were good days..... I mean, I've never much enjoyed visits from the postman, they normally bring bills and nasty letters saying I'm broke - but now... he has become a figure similar to Freddy Kruger!
Lol, my sup told me today to take deep breaths and chant ohnmmmmmm lol lol lol - I do love him - he's so much fun!
Yep the waiting room analogy is pretty good! Ha ha, its like going to the dentists knowing the check up will either be great, no problems or.... we need to extract all of your teeth and replace them with wooden stumps pmsl!
Well done BobNic!!! That is brilliant news please don't feel guilty! You are right to celebrate and anything that goes well here we'll all celebrate with you I do know what you mean though - last year when I was successful I had terrible survivor guilt lol!
Soarus, what your sup is saying seems to be what's going on all over - I've seen only the one FLoJ - although there is talk of others - its fierce this year
Nothing for me either - huge pile of post that needed sorting through - cue almost uncontrollable shaking - nothing....
I wish I could get enough sleep to have an AHRC related dream! I did have one a week or so back, but now, with the dissertation and the AHRC and other personal matters I don't sleep enough to dream
My supervisor is also going on holiday, and my first thought was 'how can you do this!!! I need you here' lol lol, then figured the poor guy needs a break.
I'm very lucky in that he is brilliant, he always replies within 24 hours and has been so incredibly supportive to me, he will also be my supervisor next year for the Phd, great for me, probably not so good for him
I think you're right to be cross about this, we pay a fortune for their advice and they should provide it! I know some of my peers are having issues with their supervisors, so it seems a fairly common thing. Last year (so BA diss) one of my friends literally took a chair and sat outside their sups office for hours to nail him after he hadn't responded once in over 3 months NOT GOOD!
