London Marathon a Scam or A Life long Experience.

D

True thats really a good question and that's how a free society would be like. Not the ones who have their pockets full could have only ran.
Thats a basic entertainment even denied for the poors.
Sneaks! Do you get tired physically or you get shortness of breath?

Both! although I can run on the spot with my Wii fit for AGES. i think its probably just the impact on my lower back which is essentially F****D to put it politely. I have a ton of metal in it to support various sections and I look like a teddy bear (with a big 'zip' like scar up the back). When I jog for my wii fit I do it on a little trampolene to absorb the impact.

Sneaks Its ofcourse none of my business but did you had an accident or something?. There are various varieties of impact absorbing shoes available containing air and even gel. I guess walking is as good as jogging. I lost like 15kgs in 4 months by walking 12000steps a day.

right, sorry for any offence to marathon runners out there, just repeating what my specialist told me.

Dispatcher, I too like walking, although my specialist told me to keep that down to less than 30 miles per week, she was shocked by the ten miles in a day (not every day, probably every few days, plus the walk to town and back every day, which is about 5 miles) habit I used to have (I have knee problems). I have read that road-side excercise of any kind is potentially damaging because it makes us breath more deeply, and take in rotten car fumes. But I do it any way.

I like swimming, but I still haven't got back into it again:$

Hi, I walk when rest of the folks are asleep:$ Its usually between 9.30-11.30pm or 4.30-6.30 am. I don't know how to swim as i was put off by a m8 who always pees in the swimming pools:-s When I get down to a decent bmi I will start running again dont want to run b4 i can walk...lol

is there anything that actually stops someone popping under the barrier and joining in on the marathon?

Not a huge amount though apparently if you run without a number you will get hauled off the course by a marshall. What would actually happen I don't know. I guess it's a free country so they can't excactly stop you going for a 26.2 mile run from Greenwich to the Mall that happens to coincde with the london marathon, but they might take issue with you taking water from the water stations.

When i was 20, I started gettin really bad back pain and my legs were going numb. I found out it was because my spine had finally stopped growing and they realised I had a birth defect essentially, a narrowing of the spinal canal .. http://metrosportsmed.patientsites.com/tpl-210/Injuries-Conditions/Lower-Back/Lower-Back-Issues/Lumbar-Spinal-Stenosis/a~51/article.html

And I've had a few of the metal X-stop implants at the bottom of the article.
