FindAPhD Post It Notes

D

How did we get them then? I honestly can't remember!

H

Don't know about post-its but definitely true about the mouse mat.

I'm not jealous, I could have sent my ADDRESS to them too!

Another Andy here with a hot tip. Coasters. Go for the coasters.

Whatever happened to the lovely gif file that 404 created of the FindAPhD logo man with the mooncup rising off his head?

I think you got them before or around the same time I did. Either for some help on the site, or an apology. You were quite a handful on this site if memory serves well. I've just run a search but couldn't find the thread. It was the days of sylvester, coastman, your faveorite claudia and forum's top conversation mooncup. I got my post-its and pens after creating some smiley gifs. Best present ever!

Edit: Ooops, new message appeared after I wrote this one; so there was no need for reminding the era :p
The question is, how do we get a coaster???

true, I forgot about that one. I wonder where that is. :-)

I loved that mooncup man, I have a copy of it saved in an external drive (found it the other day and still makes me smile).

I may enter the competition for a PGF mooncup! Now that'd be a novelty item worth competing for

Hi Forumites,

Further to Andy's post, thought I'd sort out a few more details about this impromptu merch-fest! Your musings can be on anything relating to postgrad study/life - it can be an overview of the whole experience, or pick out specific bits of interest. We thought a minimum of 500 words would be good. Here's a few ideas for possible titles if you need some inspiration:

- Writing a thesis
- Perks of a PhD
- How to survive a PhD
- Getting on with your supervisor
- 10 things you should know about...
- Budgeting/money tips for postgrads

Send anything you write to [email protected] (put "Postgrad Forum article" or something useful in the subject line!), and also include your name and address if you'd like to be considered for some free stuff. We will need your real name, but if we put your article up on the site, we can use your forum username on it if you'd prefer. You're welcome to send us more than one article if you're very enthusiastic!

I'll be putting pics of our fabulous merch up on the FindAPhD Twitter account every day this week. I reckon we'll set a closing date of 30th June, but I'll let you know if that changes. There's no pressure at all to enter, but if you fancy a bit of procrastination with the possibility of getting some free FindAPhD stuff, then feel free!

Caz :-)

Right, I've been having a think about this and do you have to use references? And can you use quotations?

P.S Ignore the moderator edit on that post. I clicked on edit rather than quote

I reserve the right to grump! Especially under the circumstances... It took me a lot of hard work to get my writing to anything like professional standards. If you want professionals to write copy for your website then, IMO, you should pay them, and not in post it notes, whih, also IMO is a pretty patronising offer.

D

haha, this is funny! I could do with a coaster to avoid anymore watermarks on my desk.

It's hardly like they started a post looking for writers to be paid in pens. It was just put out there as a opportunity to anyone who would like to contribute. You all procrastinate on here anyways so you might as well!

G

I think it won't be unreasonable for the PGF administration to charge for these items after keeping free membership policy at this forum.
I will be happy to pay for a few items with PGF logos on as my writing may not be of that high professional standard as many demand...I do not want to enter into any time consuming competition but am willing to purchase for future to keep these PhD memories alive...Do you agree that these should be available for purchase?

Avatar for Eska

I will not be giving away bargain basement cut price copy so PGF can get a nice feather in their caps, and some freebie writing, that's all. A very cheeky bunch of monkeys IMO.

If you fix my old lap top I'll send you a biro; how does that sound?

S

Any one would think Eska didn't really like this FREE Forum!!
Once again we are only asking for your opinion not an essay, it won't take days to write and it doesn't have to be of a professional standard, Just your thoughts on the bullet points mentioned!!
If you don't want to do it you don't have to but our offer is a reasonable one for those who asked for merchandise, it's a fair trade, they want it we give them a quick, easy way to do so everyone is a winner!!
