You can get admission to UK universities, but you will need to find funding yourself. Contact the British Council in India, the Association of Comonwealth Universities and visit the UKOSA web site. If you can get straight on to a PhD it will be better, as it will be cheaper and quicker in the long term. An MRes, however, is an excellent introduction to laboratory research methods and would help you to get a place. Funding, however, is the first thing you should sort out.

If you have your own funding, then finding somewhere to study should be no problem. Use the internet to fin the names of French research groups working in your area of interest and then write to the explaining your situation. You will soon have a number of offers.
