Just that really. Submitted last week, and have been offered a viva date at the end of January. Slightly disappointed as was hoping to be a Dr by christmas! I have a sense that this (nearly four months) is still within the acceptable limits of time to wait between submission and viva (especially at this time of time, when academics tend to be busy), but am interested in what others' experiences were?

I waited two months for my viva. I think it's just when the examiners are available. Maybe it depends on your university, but my university had protocols in place to have had the viva within 12 weeks of the student submitting.

Hi there. It really varies. At my university (UK), the norm is 2.5 months, but when I first submitted, I had to wait for 3 months or so, as my external was unavailable. Good luck with your viva!

I submitted at the end of April and had my viva in mid-September, taking into account the semester break, the Commonwealth Games, the Scottish referendum, etc etc.

In my uni its 12 weeks within which viva is supposed to be held. Mine was on the last day of that 12 week time period as my external was in africa and had to wait for him

I had to wait 5 months to sit my viva.
It didn't help that the department conveniently forgot to process the paperwork to arrange the examiners.

2.5 months. I made maximum use of the time to prepare for it as well as commented on here.

I was three months between submission and viva. Seems fairly typical.

If your examiner is a VIP academic, expect delays.

Submitted on the 16 September 2013, viva on the 20 May 2014. Pass with major. Resubmitted July, chased and chased and finally had informal email to say amends fine. One final thing to do but can submit for internal only. (Hoping to do that next week).

In my case, after submission, it took the university two months to approve the examiners and the examiners need 3+ months to read before a VIVA can he held.

I haven't heard about a viva date yet, submitted about a month ago.
