I become increasingly sad waiting for response on my submitted manuscripts. That's so frustrating. I know it's normal, but still waiting for weeks after the reviewers completed their recommendation is really nerve wrecking

I have about 200 pages of appendix already :/ It will all work out, I am sure. I think once I finish the conclusion and crack on with the amendments, I will be able to see the bigger picture and cut quite a few things out/down :) I am not too worried yet!

That must be really scary, especially because your thesis is dependent on publication. I wish you the best of luck!

Btw, does it matter which journal you publish in? Does it have to be in a well cited journal? I'm just wondering because I've been getting a lot of spam type emails from journals that I've never heard of asking me to publish with them.

Hi everyone, how are you all doing? I've been working on my literature review, and made good progress, although it feels too long, so I may to have cut out quite a bit, but I'm plodding along!

Hi Hugh, things are moving along steadily! This week I am dividing my time up between my conclusion, a conference paper and journal corrections. Though, for the past two days I have focused wholly on my conclusions- yesterday I had lots of small epiphanies as I went about my day so I felt it best to get them down in my conclusion before I forgot!

Just drafting it out in bullet points at present, but i am keen to get it done and crack on with my editing as I know that will be the hardest and most tedious part.

I am glad to hear that you have made good progress on the literature review! I am saving all cutting until the end so I can see what parts may be less relevant/what I can afford to lose.

Zutterfly, really pleased to hear you are making excellent progress, well done! :)

I believe that's a good strategy to leave cutting up to the end. I partly dread that part of cutting out words. I always thought I'd have too less to say.

I've got to tackle the conclusion too after the literature review chapter, I think that's going to be a difficult task. I should worry about it when I get there ;)

I'm knackered, but working on chapter 2. I emailed ahead to tell my supervisor I'm re- submitting it at the end of March- so now just have to follow through!

I tend to get overwhelmed in quotes and details so may borrow your bullet point approach to re-map it out, Zutterfly.

Hugh- If it helps reassure you, I have not found the conclusion too difficult so far. I am capping it at 7k though and I think when I write it in full it will be just the right amount (hopefully!)

It has actually been very rewarding to look through my previous chapters and make notes as it is nice to see it all tied together quite neatly :)

So you're dreading the conclusion and I am dreading editing my lit review haha.

myoldmonkey- I hope that you meet your deadline! Yes the bullet point approach has always worked well for me, as it is then just a case of writing it out in full and deleting any 'weaker' bullet points.

Haha, unfortunately I have never received such requests from international journals!
In my country, 50% of the papers in your thesis need to be published in well cited journals. For the remaining 50% the journal doesn't matter

In which country are you studying Sarah? That sounds harsh! Though, I suppose that at least you are finishing your thesis with publications which is not all that common in my department.

I am too on the verge of finishing. Although i still have to write the introduction, the conclusion and many modifications here and there, I try to keep myself positive and not break down. I say so because I want to submit within one month but my supervisor thinks it is still not ready. But I will prove him wrong, I will be able to manage. I need to finish and start off with my life.

You sound like me here! I also have the conclusion, most of the introduction and a lot of editing to go. I am trying to maintain momentum, but I too feel similarly in that, I just want to finish and get on with my life!
