PhD interview - any advice ?

L

Hi,

I have been shortlisted by Durham Uni for an PhD interview, next week. Does anybody have advice to give me about how to prepare interview, or has been interviewed by Durham University ? Any reply would be useful :)

Hello. I just had interview for a PhD at Northumbria Uni yesterday and was successful. I read a lot about the topic and charity that funds the project. I was asked questions about what I know about the topic so far, ethical considerations for this proposed methodology, about the work of this charity. Then a few questions/ scenarios: what would you do if... I had a phone call 5 hours after my interview that they would like to give me an offer. Which I have accepted :) so my advise would be: do your research about the topic and funding body, give relevant information that would be useful to your project. Good luck

Thank you very much Alicia :)
I will find informations about the funding institution then, and yes I also think it's very important to know your research proposal very well !

I totally agree with the previous comment. You need to be fully prepared: a research about the topic and project you’re interested in is a must. You need to demonstrate your knowledge as well as confidence and enthusiasm. Prove that you’re the perfect match for Durham Uni. Yes, you deserve this place but your task from now is to convince your interviewers. People speaking freely and answering questions with an easy make the finest first impression. So, do a research and study hard before your interview. Describe your most important achievements, skills, and strengths. There is something which makes you a unique candidate. Prove it. Good luck!
