I am a MSc student and wish to do PhD at a UK Uni. I am from Papua New Guinea (West Pacific) and I would be grateful for help/assistance in obtaining a studentship/scholarship for a PhD in 2005. Any body with helpful hints/information?

look for sources of funding from your own government first.

some university/departmental Phds are open to any students. there are also special scholarships out there aimed at specific categories of ppl who want to research a specific field, or are from a certain country etc. but fraid you won't be eligible for any of the studentships offered by UK research councils as they're offered to UK citizens only. my old MSc classmate from Canada is doing a Phd at Bristol now. so i think there should be a sizeable no. Phds you can go for!
