The nocturnal workers' thread

It will end Wally, don't worry. Have you tried the tomatoes during the day? Sometimes if I have lots of distractions and end up working in short bursts I get more done, cos I'm actually working when I'm at my laptop...and then sometimes no matter what I do it doesn't come. But, it will end.

I'm signing in myself tonight, final proofing and corrections to be done before bed, and if I'm not too shattered another crack at references....ugh.

Anyone out there?
I haven't been a regular like I used to but I'm back and doing some editing. I submit within 3 weeks and really getting bored reading this, although I like to re-read some of the chapters.
Aim to finish proof reading at least two chapters by tomorrow. let's see how it goes, (yawn coming hard and fast.. need music to keep me up)
BTW, I just saw a small mouse in my living room where I was working, now I will run to the bedroom & lock the door :-o need to do something about this tomorrow.

Hi, just came across this forum and it is just what I need at the moment. I have no choice but to work at night for the next few months till I submit my thesis. Anyone else up working tonight? x

HI Liah, in the same boat! I don't like working at night to be honest, but I have to :( So don;t give up - I am with you!

That's awesome Rina. Good to have your company. Let's burn the midnight oil and finish off this thesis. Planning to stay till 1AM tonight. 5 hours of non-stop work. I hope. :)

I just noticed this thread and it would be great to get it started again. Any other night owls up and at it tonight? As I am from Australia, I am not sure if it is night for many of you.

Hi all,

New member here and first post on the forum.

Have decided (again) to embrace my nocturnal nature and try to make it work for the final 8 months of PhD time. Anyone else in the same boat?

Do I get extra points for being here at 130am on a Sunday morning?

Hello!
So glad to have this thread! I'm a new PhD student. Throughout my undergrad and Masters I worked nocturnally and have always done my best work at night. Since I'm in STEM sometimes I HAVE to work during the day doing experiments, etc, but my reading and writing up is always left to the nighttime. I STILL feel really guilty for not working during the day, especially when people wonder why I'm not in the office! Wish people would be more accepting that we all have own own working styles. Anyone else also struggle working during the day in shared offices? I get nothing done except answering emails...
