Accountability Partners - Write your Dissertation in 15 Minutes a Day

Thanks Lara! for your empathy and insight of my situation. I actually persuaded myself to print out the writing and scanned thought it. It is a very rough zero draft, but at least I think I have almost included what I would like to say in this chapter.

Lara, I think the highlighting method would be very useful next time as I realized that I actually mentally highlighted the important points this time round just reading through it. But highlighting those sentences would probably have helped me to visualize the links between those ideas much better.

With also the suggestion of my husband, I also re-built the structure for the chapter based on those key lines, so now I can see my statement and argument in a skeleton view. Then, I filled in the skeleton with some flesh from the zero draft. But at the moment, it looks like distorted field-watcher, ugly!

Hi guys, Although I haven't started my PhD formally, I am working on a writing project (one chapter) with my supervisor already. A good appetizer for a PhD! Right? I guess it is the same principle to writing up part of a PhD. Actually it tastes very sour at the moment as the writing process appears quite draining to me. I found what's most difficult is motivation. I have read the book (write 15 minutes a day) as well. It encourages me to start with a low aiming. It worked in someway, but I found myself frightened and reluctant to read what I have written (think it is rubbish). I don't know what's the problem with me.

Do you think we should have an 'introduce yourself' thread?

Hi I am Ling. Did my master at UoB in England. After two unsuccessful funding applications for doing a phd in the UK, I am starting my phd with funding now in a HK university this summer as my husband and I are also trying to settle down in HK. My supervisor is from the states but the uni system here is more British than American. Although I haven't started my PhD formally, I am working on a writing project with my supervisor already. A good appetizer for a PhD!

Trying out Zotero-a free resource organizer

I am starting my PhD in Child Psychology this August and currently collecting all useful resources that might be helpful with my journey ahead. I don't know if anyone has tried out Zotero. I feel it seems more useful for people who just started a project. What do you think?
Could anyone recommend useful qualitative data analysis tools? Any tips or recommendations on how to organize related resources and data for a PhD starter would be most appreciated!
