I am an Italian graduate who is planning to apply for a PhD in Germany. In Germany the most common way to obtain a PhD is throught individual study. I find this method very interesting because it gives the opportunity to focus more on the research project. Still I have some perplexities about the individual doctorate. Has any of you done the PhD in Germany as a foreigner student? Is it possible to go to the University only for meetings with the supervisor (or seminars) without relocating to Germany permanently? What are your impressions?
