information regarding phd in genetics

G

i am dr. saboor a pakistani citizen working as a pediatrician in saudi arabia.i am from the begining interested in genetics but i could not get a chance to go for it. now i am trying for phd admission in some university but everybody is asking two refrees but how can i provide two refrees while i have no experience working in genetics.can anybody help me that how can i overcome this problem

I think it would be difficult for you to go for a PhD in genetics after not having done any before. You would be better off doing a BSc or a Master's in Genetics. No project supervisor would want to take on someone with no experience in that field.

G

I dont think its true that supervisors wont take you on. Do you have referees from your medical undergrad degree? Lecturers for example? You must have done some form of cell/ molecular biology in your undergrad. Besides if you can prove your interest in a subject thats half the battle!

G

your referees don't have to be from the field og Genetics. Just ask two of your old University Lecturers to write a reference for you. They can write about your qualities that would be relevant for a PhD.
