Personal Funding

G

Hi, I have found a suppervisor who is interested in recruiting me to do a PhD but they have no funding and want to know if i have full or partial funding to go towards the PhD. I thought only suppervisors could get funding. How would I go about getting funded? Thanks.

Basically you're correct, particularly in the sciences. None of the science research councils will make an award direct to students. Some people choose to fund their own study, using savings or part time employment or both. Some governments will fund their own nationals to study overseas. I suggest that you clarify the situation with your potential supervisors - he/she may have just been hoping that you had rich parents.

It seems that i have exactly the same problem as yours. I have a prof. who is willing to be my supervisor upon my research interest in Modelling Multiphase Slugging in Pipeline. He has approved my research proposal. since the scholarship scheme, which i rely on is very competitive. I have to find the other sources to fund my PhD, in case it fails. But i still don't have any clues at all.

Beware of supervisors with no funding. Why do they have no funding?
