PhD Salaries

G

Dose any one know how much you can expect to earn after your PhD?

G

I know someone who has recently got a lecturership striaght after his PhD at Leeds univ. (£22,191 - £23,296).

I also know of other people, such as one guy in Oxford, who is a "Departmental Lecturer" in Pharmacology. Got the job soon after his PhD. He gets to do his own research as well a joining others. and of course he has to teach a few MSc students.
(£18,265 - £24,121)

G

lecturers are not highly paid people, so we should regard £24k as min. I think industry offers the best saleries, is there anyone out there how knows more about that?

G

Industrial salaries for a science phd start at about 30K depending on location and company.

G

For a post-doc position (which is the norm) expect to earn between £18-24K, depending on the post and experience etc. For full lecturships, its more, probably around £30K. Have a look in the back of New Scientist for an idea of salaries across a range of disciplines.

G

startign salaries for lecturers are 21K.
was in the new scientist. takes a while for a new lecturer to get upto 30K

My advice to ALL nerds on this site is to start bombarding hate mail to Dr. Xav thats Xavier@******.com

G

that is one of the dummest things I've read for qa long while. The nerds on this site (like urself mojo) wont enjoy being called nerds. so they wont do as u say. And u were thinking of doing a doctorate??? If anyone wants to email this idiot telling him how thick he is , his email is ma102mk@******.ac.uk

G

The pair of you (Xav and Mojum) are very immature. Grow up.

G

Mr Anon, please refrain yourself from throwing such rude emails…I shall like to inform you that these men are highly intelligent and qualified in being COOL…so I expect you will attend their lecture on 10th June 2005, in LSE mainhall.
