Hey, Can you see if you have access to this article please?
Hey,
I feel really guilty too when I'm not working on my thesis. Haven't got much done this week as I had to focus on sorting out a job application and do some job searching but did manage a couple of sub-sections albeit small ones.
I would totally go to the beach tanemahuta, take some r&r and spend some quality time with your fiance before getting back to it all refreshed, you'll probably be glad for it in the long run. I was so tired one day last week that all I did was reference a section and write a quick to-do list which made me feel less guilty for working-took me about 30 mins but I felt better about watching a movie with the hubby after.
I have to have a prolific weekend on the writing front as I told my sup I'd hoped to give him an intro draft this week-oops. Only 4 weeks till my 3 year funded period is up so need to get my lab work finished, and try and get more writing done and find a job. So I want to have finished my immune response section by the end of this weekend-fingers crossed! But I think I definitely want to be giving my sup a draft asap.
Hope everyone is well!!
x
You are way ahead of me in my second year, and in fact now and I'm 5 weeks away from the end of my third year. I'm only funded for 3 years so need to have my lab work done soon (still not finished) and don't have any of my results chapters written yet. I'm writing my intro/lit review at the moment- almost finished-then can send the draft off to my sup and have a fair amount of materials and methods done but that is it.
You seem like your very well on track to complete when you want to. I know I'm going to be writing this up after I've finished but still need to find a job.
Best of Luck
x
Hi guys,
Before I fill the form in for an interlibrary request, I thought I'd see if any of you guys had access to this article please?

I didn't have a very productive day yesterday, lots of lab work and mental block when I got home so watched a movie with my husband instead.
I'm having a work from home day today, and got another sub section finished. One more (with lots of little sub-sub sections to go and that is this entire section done. Hopefully can get a fair few of them done today. Told my sup I was hoping to give him a draft sometime next week so need to get my skates on.
Good luck everyone!
I do, pm me your email address and I'll send it to you. x
I have access to the first one, pm me your email address and I'll send it to you :)
Also done, was quick and simple! x
So I got my sunday goals completed today, a day later but at least its done.
Just 3 more sub sections to do before this section is complete then edit the other section-and I just remembered a couple of sub sections in later sections that I'd left that are based on the one I'm writing at the moment but more specific -Damn!!
So here's aiming for the 1st of those 3 sub sections tomorrow.
Good luck to everyone for tomorrow!
I would also like to join. I officially end my 3 years on 31st July but know I wont be written up then as I'm still in the lab, but I need to be written up as quickly as possible after that. I've been working on my introduction today and got 2 sub-sections done. So goals:
Tomorrow: I would like to complete at least 2 more sub-sections
By the 24th June: finish this section and minor edits to another section so I can submit a draft intro to my sup.
Good Luck everyone and hope you reach your targets!

Hi all,
I'm thinking of applying for a technical post within my institution, but in a different department, and I feel I should go and see the PI before I apply (as I think it may show lack of interest etc if I don't when I'm doing my Phd in the same institution and I could easily go and see him). But I don't know what to say/ask!!
Its a science position and the advert mentions general day to day running of the lab and also performing experiments-so I could ask about techniques they use etc?
The adverts only asks for a BSc so am not sure if doing the Phd will go against me. (ie overqualified?)
What advice can any of you guys offer? I don't want to seem stupid but feel it would be courteous to go and see them before hand (my sup says I should go and see him too) but just have no idea what to say/do as I've never been in the situation before.
Thanks
Trin
Thanks Rina, I'll pm you in a sec. I thought I'd try here first, its usually a faster response, but if I feel I desperately need them (which I don't at the moment) then I think I'll try contacting them. xx
Hi guys,
Sorry there are a lot but can anyone help with access to these papers? They're probably pretty similar but I'm trying to get a good background.
