Thank you for your reply; it is much as my understanding.
I am not looking to move into academia (although some guest lecturing has been mooted) merely to play a part in developing the management theory behind my industry area of strategic security and resilience.
Many thanks again for your response.
I am in discussions with another university about the possibility of joining a professional research programme following my MSc.
I wonder if there are any members with experience of this type of programme and how it differs, practically not on paper, to a PhD?
Many thanks
Hi there, I’m not sure if this is in the right place so apologies if not, and feel free to move accordingly.
I am an MSc student on a distance learning course, I am looking for pointers towards existing research or published books on the subjects of academic education in comparison to vocational short courses (certificates, diplomas through private training companies etc) and anything that discusses the validity and credibility of academic study.
In short my research aims to critically analyse existing training and education in business continuity management, and part of that is to compare academic (postgrad) courses on the subject with professional industry qualifications.
Many thanks in advance.
