Does anyone have experience on using Grounded Theory?

N

Hi All,

I am wondering if anyone has experience using Grounded Theory. How difficult is to categorize the data?
I am really keen on hearing some tips, too.

Thanks

S

i am fascinated by qualitative research, but there are very few people who are into this
By the way have you read this article???
FROM THE EDITORS:WHAT GROUNDED THEORY IS NOT by ROY SUDDABY
in AMJ, 2006, vol 49

hello!

i haven't actually done grounded theory but i have done modules on it and read a fair amount on it.

seminal text - glaser and strauss 1967.

be careful when reading articles which say they've used grounded theory as quite a lot actually use the "constant comparative method" which is part of grounded theory but not the whole thing.

good luck!

This is quite a common thing to do in education research at the moment, so books on research methods in education should give you some information

Hi,
I am using the principles of grounded theory analysis for my research, although not a full grounded theory approach. I am finding this way of analysing my data, whilst EXTREMELY time consuming, means that each line has been covered and conclusions are not jumped to.
As for how difficult it is to categorise the data, it's just as difficult as any method of qual analysis.
