Hello all,

So, my first year upgrade meeting (viva) is approaching. Does anybody have any pearls of wisdom on how to prepare for this? I am unlikely to have any data at this point...just lots of method development!

Hey, not sure whether you have had the meeting. First, what was helpful for me was going through our department/faculty regulations with a fine tooth comb to make sure that i was submitting what was required. I have found that going above these is usually helpful. For the actual meeting, i actually did not do as much prep as i should have and was somewhat unprepared. My advice is to know your work inside and out so you can defend it adequately enough, but take the advice that you get there as well. Its about showing them your persistence and perseverance to get through. Good luck!
