Just wondering how long it takes to get accepted onto a PhD? I know it varies and depends on your circumstances etc, but I've been trying to get on one for what feels like forever (6 mnths! Even tho I have wide areas of intrest & haven't been that fussy as to what I apply to I've had no joy!

It's doing my head in too. I've applied to about 15 now & haven't had even a sniff of an interview. How many did other people apply to before they got an interview? I too have a wide interest, I'm interested in pretty much any area I do, which I think is a good thing, but could this be holding me back?

I can say that I contacted around 30-40 project directors. Most of the projects were gone or I wasn't eligible (I'm Spanish). At the end I managed to get 5 interviews and 2 offers but I didn't take any. Unfortunately I am still looking. Good luck.
