I am looking to go into a career in lecturing. I wish to undertake my PhD in the discipline of marketing , loved the subjec tin uni and would love to teach it.
Just wanted to get an insight into the life of a phd student if anyone is doing marketing how are you finding it? ever think of doing something else instead! thanks

Be aware that as a lecturer, you will not be able to focus entirely on teaching. In fact, teaching will be at the bottom of your agenda, priority-wise, career-wise and probably time-wise. Your main focus will be on doing research, playing the academic publication game, and so on.

"Loving to teach the subject" is maybe not the right motivation. Just a thought.

Do you have an marketing industry background? It's a subject area that you'll be expected to have some 1st hand industry experience in [eg. working in an agency etc..].
