Hi,

I will be asked to write a "brief technical summary" on an given topic as a part of job interview. I just wonder what exactly I should wait. I understand it as abstract. So should I summarize a technical document? Or is it just an essay writing? What is more probable? Did anyone go through a similar thing?

Sounds like an abstract to me, like they're thinking 'can this person take the key points from a piece of work & summarise what it means'. I'm only guessing, but I ask students to do this at interview, so it's an educated guess!
