Personally, I do not categorize my self as an Intellectual or a True Academic as some do here. I am only a learner myself. Therefore, I do not post Pathetic remarks about other people's Personal Opinions. I also do not need any supportive comments from anyone to keep me going nor I am here for any Stats help. I am an Engineer and a Mathematician and that is my life. I am a self learner. I am not researching for any Job/Money but just for my personal satisfaction. Therefore, my perspective towards life may be a bit different.
Akui, thanks for asking. Of course, I will be so pleased to give any further advice. I am sorry that you could not get my last post.;-)

Algaequeen, Did you miss the methodology section of the post? I love your hat though.
Akui, from my last post at another thread you posted, I had realized that you are clever enough to know all the answers beforehand. Leeds is def a good choice, I can understand the joy and the excitement associated.

Sometimes, it is not only the Brutality & Force that could Enslave a Nation. The Great Wall of China is an Extravagant example of this and even that failed to keep the Enemies out. Sometimes, it is this kind of informality, diplomacy and tactics that could win/deceive the hearts and minds of people to boost the productivity to meet the target/objective. A combination of above characteristics helped a few nations ruled nearly half of the world and gathered the enormous resources and wealth from all around the world. Calling Dr Ellingham Jade Underbridge by Elly does not necessarily means that next time she will embrace you with open arms ;). Think it that way that every utterance has a level of energy associated with it..so why waste it when it is not needed? ;-)

Sorry for kind of hijacking this thread. I meant Fame & Anonymity are a bit contradictory. Of course, a username
may suffice but what's wrong with a few lines description regarding research topic and the contributions to the knowledge?

@Starlight Make sure your supervisor has reasonable knowledge and more important an interest in your research area. Look at their web pages and carefully go through their list of publications. The ranking based on RAE is just a formality. In my department a female professor publishes about 10 papers each year and most of those are copies of the ones written 3/4 years ago with a different title or with minor changes. I was first shocked to see all this happening.
No one is really bothered about the success/failure of students. They even have a pre-calculated number that they use to restrict students to MPhil, and this happens after all the research funding has been drawn from government bodies. And this university is also a prestigious one ranked 4th/5th in UK.

Is this a kind of anonymous Hall of Fame? Personally, I would like to read at least a few more details regarding your project and the contribution that was made to the Knowledge..What was your experience and what suggestions you would like to give to new comers..

Quote From Slizor:

well, I've never been offended in my life. Argh! Damn people with feelings and sensitivities!(snowman)

This shows that the situation is less problematic than as had been anticipated earlier. I do think Larry's remarks were a bit harsh but I guess he was speaking on the girl's behalf. That is no way amusing but atleast it projects a possible real life scenario..

Personally, I think drinking is injurious to health and so is the lethal drugs people use in clubs.

Pepipox, I could not understand your post completely. What do you mean by Analytical Methods? Can I ask you about your subject area? You still got plenty of time. 18 months is a long long time. Why the refocusing issue drives this research in a completely new direction? You can still use the same analytical methods?. I like the mountain climbing scenario, but from my experience as an amateur high altitude climber, no climbing experience is a complete waste of time. It builds up your stamina, prepares your defense against altitude sickness and as you said it has strengthened your analytical methods. I have to refocus many many times. It is you who has to drive your project in the right direction. You are the pilot and the navigator at the same time. I still cannot understand why the research panel asked you to refocus? Sorry, I could not be more specific with the information available.

I would like to add just this
'If you feel an insult Laugh at it', 'If you can't then ignore it' 'if you can't even do that then you probably deserve it'

The subject above seems to be a respected member of the 3rd category. It takes guts to laugh at your own mistakes and you cannot ignore something which overwhelms your conscious all the times.. But, I will never use this as a test.
A person who thinks has touched the perfection would not tolerate such jokes or a severely self centered normal human being.. For people who have any kind of abnormality are the ones we should be careful about not to insult as this jeopardizes their confidence..

Calm down Calm down everyone! Hang on a minute, A PhD could be a piece of (turkey) for someone and a real pain in the *** for others. Do we need a swear thread. Of course not at this stage. I remember nearly 10 years ago I come across a live real voice chat forum where there was a kind of swear room where people wait for their turns on the microphone and start ***** on their turns...I am not a genius to take it that way but I think a PhD is more than hard work. It is something like hit where it hurts rather than hit every where and start loosing body parts with excessive repetitive tasks.... Noway, calm down, think logically and find out the most delicate parts of this beast...

Someone, somewhere below mentioned about keeping at a safe distance from a Sup for safety reasons. It could happen that it all ends up at a TV Program 'Wife Swap' but this time directed by an Internal. I will definitely never go within 500 meters radius where he lives....
Yeah, by the way he did send me 3 txt messages. And all were to cancel a prearranged meeting which I read whilst on a train journey to the point of interception...
