It is three years off but I am going to make a difference to everyone's lives as we are all going to get old
I love my subjects (neural ageing & sports science)and it is more of a hobby and a passion than a slog. I just have to keep convincing myself of that every day
Excellent thread Chris, another one for the filofax
It's so hot, so sunny, so lovely, surely only weird people are working right now
Well, this weekend, I have bought too many books, a skirt (for daughter, I don't do skirts!), two CD's and now I am going to look for a new watch I can train with (triathlon) as this one steams up!
Oh dear, a very unproductive weekend.
Brains, what brains? The nearest I have got this weekend is buying two more neuroanatomy books on Amazon. Other than that, I spent the whole evening when husband and son were out reading future episodes of Grey's Anatomy Series 3!! Now, I am realizing I have done nothing so I come on here to see if I am the only bad one!! I love this forum
Yep, I really need to work this weekend. I feel so very dumb at the moment and need to brush up on some brain science here. I am going to be reading at least 3 papers through and brushing up on my brain functions, I am feeling really dumb today. So, yes, I am sending the husband and eldest son off to movies tomorrow whilst I do some serious work. Now, that is telling my age but yes, my son can watch movies late with his Dad!!!
This is a link to all the positive posts I received when feeling really low about my pending PhD in Sept. 07. I have really nothing to worry about. I am excited about my topic, I have found a prof. who is in the same field, I have been signed off and now waiting for my offer but I am still mostly SCARED. However, I have printed off this thread, punched holes in it and it is in my filofax because I know I have to forget any doubts, negatives etc. and just GO FOR IT. I want to be in academia, I love my subject, I want to lecture, I am intelligent (mostly!) and I love this forum because I know it is a safe place to come. Thanks all other forum members and I hope this thread helps you.
Believe me, I have everything to worry about...age, family, finance etc. but I have decided I am going for it....I may be run over by a bus tomorrow!
I love all these different titles and I just think it is great that we are all out here trying to make a difference and driven by our passion for our subject.
I am a the stage where I know I will get my offer next week from the Uni and I am bigtime SCARED of the whole route that stands before me. Listening to others titles really does encourage me that I am not mad, I am following my dream and my ambition and that I am not alone, thank you.
Yes, everyone pronounces Shih Tzu the wrong way or laughs when I say her breed name. Her name is Looby Loo and my little boy made up a song (innocently) that went "Looby Looby Loo, she's a shi££y zoo, Looby Looby Loo!" He had some very quick lessons on correct pronounciation before sharing his new song!
