Its not too late. There are still positions being advertised now you need to be quick though. I was offered a funded PhD just today and last week was invited for 2 interviews later this month so if you look around you should be able to find something
congrats so pleased for you
Hiya,
You could try doing a masters, it will give you the chance to do another lab project which may be extended say for 8 months which would give you more lab experience. Some masters have more than 1 lab project and so you may also get experience in a wider range of techniques and in different labs working under different supervisors.
I havent started my PhD yet will be starting on september so cant really give any advide but Well done on getting the studentship
Do you get paid monthly or quartely. Im doing a masters and I get a stipend and have my fees paid. Since mine is paid quarterly for example I recieved a payment in july for july august and september. If I were to quit now obviously I would have to pay back what they gave me for the rest of august and the whole of september. Not sure if this is helpful to you
No i think he means would he have to repay what he's already been given, not whether he can still continue to recieve it. I know for PhDs you dont have to repay anything if you leave unless they mistakenly re-pay you after you have quit, not sure for masters though sorry.
oh so matthew82, you did get a PhD in the end, well done
Well done and good luck to you too PhD_chick
Aww I think you will really like it there, it ahs a really good atmosphere and everybody is really friendly and welcoming
I would go to westminster, they have a very good reputation for communication studies.
I know its probably beem said already but what field is BHC in?
Yea it is rare to find a supervisor actually at the bench if he or she is a senior faculty member that is. For some projects postdocs act as supervisors along with more senior academics and you therefore may be in the lab with them. As has already been said the best thing to do is to ask other members of the lab and hope they give an honest answer.
Not Westminster
well done
Im not saying that we should pay for them that is not practical. My issue was about people complaining about paying for international students and extends to the wider issue of people complaining about paying for people from other countries.
It's nice for us to sit here and complain about not wanting to pay for people from other countries. However you have to question why people in other countries are unable to afford an education or do not have a proper education system or even a decent infrastructure in the country. I dont want to make this into a political issue however it really makes me angry when I hear UK citizens complaining about not wishing to pay for people from third world countries ( namely countries in Africa, India and so forth).Lets be real here if it wasnt for past events we wpuld not be any position to make such comments.
