germany is crap

G

HONESTLY, I came to germany with my boyfriend, he got a job, I started a masters in chemistry, Germany is CRAP, to say the least, the people are cold and arrogant and you cant discuss science with them, its just an uphill struggle to prove you know as much as them....the beurocracy here is SO bad - it takes ages to get anything done, if I were you Id have a look at scandinavia, I am now and I wish someone had given me this advice before... on the other hand the beer in germany is well cheap!!!!

G

I am looking for Ph.D scholarship at the field of plant molecular virology

G

Doing PHD in Germany is like going to hell , they think no one is better than them, which is a bottlekeck. they want alos to fill you with their languge and culture than doing science. They are not Good at all to work together . try your best in Nethrlands or other EU countries.

I'd agree with Charlotte and codon to a certain degree. The academics that I met in Germany did seem to be so absorbed by how fantastic they were at their jobs, which is kind of butt-clenchingly winceworthy because in most cases, this couldn't have been much further from the truth! I think also that some of the older 'professors' have issues to do with British researchers which I think added to the problems I had.

I think with day-to-day dealings with people however, they don't mean to be cold, arrogant and stand-offish, it's just the way they come across. I lived in the north, where the people are known to be a bit more up-tight than southeners and somehow managed things without thumping someone!

As for the bureaucracy - absolutely incredible!

i am Phd student in Germany. Please don`t do it. It is a trap here. People are unfriendly and untolerant.

G

Wish to inform you that nobody can change your destiny. If you have made up your mind to take a PhD here, it is not a bad decision, although the people are not so friendly. But if you can speak the language a bit, presume life will be better for you during your stay here. I enjoy and appreciate my study in Biotechnology here.I Play football that bring me in contact with the Germans. Haven't been to the south of Germany, but heard that the people there are really unfriendly when compared to those here in the north.
