2:2 and Master`s

G

I have been trying for about a year to get a place for a PhD in Psychology. However, I`ve only been invited for one interview and have been rejected by various universities. This is in spite of having excellent references and writing carefully planned Research Proposals. My MSc marks are also the equivalent of a 2:1, but universities are rejecting me as I only had a 2:2 in my first degree. Both degrees were in Psychology. Does anyone have any suggestions or has anyone managed to obtain a place in a similar situation to me?

Have you had any interviews? If so, it is worth while asking for feedback. I was in the same position as you and was told after several inerviews that it would be good for me to gain some experiance. I woerked as an RA for a year and now I have finished the first year of my PhD. With a 2:2 an MSc and 1 year experiance I finally managed to get a place. Good luck

It is quite possible to get into a Ph.D. programme with a 2:2. I know many who have (one of them ended up with a Nature paper). Keep trying!

Hey you should check out the thread 2:2 and an interview as it deals with the same topic! I was told in my last interview that I was academically qualified (2:2 & MSc) but think my interview skills were a bit suspect! Anyhow back to writing to research proposals! Good Luck : )

Work experience should definitely help as I'm doing some now and it has given me ideas for projects that I wouldn't have thought of if I hadn't started the work experience I'm doing now.
