What would you do if you won Euromillions this week?

I think I would pay off my supervisor to do my PhD for me while I sped about in my Aston Martin outside (while obviously offsetting my carbon footprint of speeding about by planting a huge forest somewhere).

Would you quit your PhD?

Would you tell anyone you had won it?

Ah, you made me start to dream... when I had just managed to turn off my dream function for the rest of today. I guess I'd have to play the lottery first, don't I?

Yes I need to start playing it too, unless I am VERY lucky and the winning ticket flutters through the window onto my keyboard this week!

I would hand in my resignation, tell my supervisor exactly what I think of him whilst waving a huge wad of cash in front of his face and buy a PhD. Then I'd go on a loooooooooong holiday, somewhere hot and sunny where I would read books for pleasure. Right, must buy a ticket.

well, that's a possibility. I wouldn't count on it though (i.e. don't mention your plans to your supervisor yet) :p

I think if I did win I wouldn't tell anyone, continue the PhD but just walk around with an irritating smug look all the time - this kind of thing fill my daydreams

Ditto. I'd get my PhD, choose a university of my choice (somewhere nice to live) and work for free. If anybody asked, my auntie left me a bit of inheritance.

Live by the sea or in the country, finish my PhD and continue to research. Crap, as much as I hate it at the moment, I don't think there's anything else I can do. I'm in my 20s (but I've had an awful lot of jobs) and they've tended to never last that long. I don't think it would change my life very much though (over than where I live) as I don't have very expensive tastes.

Pay off my mortgage, pay off my parents' mortgage. Buy my parents a house and my inlaws a house. I'd probably spend quite a bit on presents for both sets of parents and my brother. Some to charity.

Invest the rest, then carry on as normal i.e PhD and my job.

I think one of the things I would spurge on for myself would be a huge heated aviary for some kind of exotic birds. I would probably only put rescued birds in there that could cope with the environment.

i would like to think i'd finish my phd, but would prob take a long break (say a month) to travel now, and then get back to it after that. would also buy a series of big houses for me and my family, a nice car, and an exclusive parking space right next to uni!! or maybe just a helicopter that could drop me right onto my builidng every day...... right, really need to go and buy a ticket now!
